Scrappin Granny!
I have enjoyed Relda’s posts on the message board and really looked forward to getting to know her better. In addition to the questions below, I had the pleasure of chatting with Relda on the phone. I can tell you that she is just as lovely and charming as I suspected. She is a real treasure with a lot of history that is fascinating. She is an awesome story teller and I have encouraged her to share with us here on the board. We can all look forward to Relda sharing some wonderful experiences she has had in her life. Please enjoy getting to know Relda a little better!
Name: Relda Statz
Family: There is my husband Gerald, and our children. We had three, Stephen, Carla and Brad. We lost Stephen to Cancer in 2004 just two months before his 50th Birthday. Carla was our second and Brad the baby born in 1961. I forgot our fur babies. Missy a 10 year old tuxedo who rules the house and Tom a big gray striped wimp. LOL
Message Board user name: Scrappin Granny
How I found the message board: Joni and I were friends on the same board. It was just a chat board and people were drifting away. She told me about this board and I'm so happy she did.
How I got my user name: . I've had my user name so long I can't remember except the few boards I've been on I'm always the oldest. So it just sort of sounded right.
How many times a day, on average, I log onto the message board: Anywhere from 2 to a lot
How many posts I have . I'm not sure how many posts I have. Too many I'm sure . I love to chat.
Why I couldn't live without the message board: I would be so lonely without the board and the girls on it.
My favorite part of the Treasured Scrapbooking website (besides the board): Everyone is so warm and friendly and I love the enthusiasm for Scrapping which another thing I was missing.
How (or why) I got into scrapbooking: I was about to retire and I belonged to a Crafts Book Club. I had heard about scrapping but wasn't sure where to start. I ordered a book on Scrapping. It showed how to use the things you had and I had a lot. Mostly a Victorian Style in the book. I loved Victorian. I went to the local Alco store and bought a book of pastel CS one of Black and one of White. I found some colored pencils the kids had left at home and some water colors. I drug out my Tole books and even embroidery patterns and even hand cut patterns and I was off. I made each child two SB's of their childhoods that first year (99). I shudder to think how they looked now. LOL
How my style has changed since I began scrapbooking: It really hasn't changed that much. Back when everyone was doing sticker sneeze I was cutting intricate patterns out of scans of everything from my bathroom curtains(which had ivy on them) to pretty birthday cards. Painting you name it. I just didn't do what was in then. I also didn't know how to post them. When people saw - them most liked them. Of course some didn't. Now I've dabbled in Collage Like a little of it, The Brown look, The Becky Higgins Look, I just had to embellish that some. but most of all I love Victorian. I still do a lot of simple pages with embellishments added.
How much time I spend each week scrapping: I work on something scrappy almost every day each week most of the day and part of the wee hours.
What it would take to keep me from scrapping: I'm so addicted I need a 10 step program for scrappers. LOL
My scrapbooking style: My SB style. I'm not sure. Maybe if you looked at my Gallery in CC you could tell me. I'm all over the place. Not all of the Gallery came up either.
My scrapbooking idol: Maybe Val Salmon. I was on a board with her before she had her little girl. she has always been so kind to me and she is so talented.
The scrapbooking trend I love: The trend I love is the bright colors flowers and scrolly things. Elegant is what I like along with pretty. Throw in a little humor too
The scrapbooking trend I wish would end: I wish they would end the trend of only one picture a page. I have too many to scrap. Of course I ignore it unless I have a portrait.
My favorite scrap item: My Cricut and my silhouette
My hardest to use scrap item: . The crop-a-dile
Who is your favorite manufacturer today: I like some of the Basic Grey but I always end up with some BoBunny
Most favorite purchase from the TS store: . I'm sorry I haven’t purchased anything yet but I'm looking.
When do you do your best work, day or night: At night when I'm all alone. I'm a night person.
My favorite layout, and why I love it: My fav I guess is one called "Pink snow" It was a challenge to scraplift from someone. It doesn't look like hers but I like it and so has everyone else. I'm not sure you saw it but it is over there in my gallery.
My dream day: To go somewhere that has huge Scrap Stores and also a large Fabric Store( like Hancocks in Paducka, Ky) Not sure where the SBS would be. To be able to just shop by myself with no rushing. Naturally the best of al would the limitless money to spend. Yes in my dream. LOL
Three words to describe me: Old, Crafty, Silly.
I am sharing a layout that Relda created. She is the silver haired beauty in the middle! Relda will share more about this layout:
Here is Relda's favorite layout "Pink Snow" Isn't it lovely!

I was niot able to get a LO with DH & I to import to this site. As a result these LO's had to be lifted from CC. the top one was taken at the time of DH's Mothers memorial. From left to right is our NIece, her Mother who is DH's Sister and was a Statz. Myself, My daughter Carla and DH's twin brothers wife. We all attended the same small Missouri School together. DH's Mother was our Music Teacher. The first time I really saw my DH he was helping his Mother take instrum;ents in the school. He was carring the Tuba. He was only 5'5". Not only that he played it. Myself and Peggy on the end who bacame my sister in law were in a quartette together and both san golo's. She is the pretty redhead. I am not tall the rest are just short. LOL

Hey Relda, you mentioned Paducah, Ky! How far are you from there??? My son played his college baseball tournaments there! We love Paducah and actually stayed at a hotel right near the Hancock Fabric store. _________________

Where am I from Pakuka, Ky. Well clear across the state of Mo. and half way across Ks. It has always been my dream to go to that store. I'm afraid once I got in there you would never get me out. LOL We ate at our first Cracker Barrel there in the 80's on a trip. At that time they had on resturants any farther west than Paducah.

I'dlike to share with you about the two LO's. Both of them were challenges. The top one was to cut up pp for embelishments on a LO. Everything on that LO except the pictue is hand cut with scissors. I didn't think that was too bad for a OLd Woman. LOL The Pink snow was also a Challenge to do a Scrap Lift from that GAllery. We had a girl who did Colage (sp) to the umpt. I decided to ltry and lift one of her simpler ones. Pink Snow is a result. It iis a picture of the neighbors yard across the street. It is snow on their Redbood tree which was in full bloom when we had a late snow. If I was not so lazy I might have submitted this one somewhere. It is about 3 years old. I have never submitted and never will just oo lazy. LOL You prob don't care about this but I just wanted to share anyway.
